The diagnosis Parkinson’s disease is most commonly given at the age of 50 but the patient might have had the disease already for years. The disease is commonly graded by the severity of the symptoms and how it limits normal life. The main brain regions of interest in Parkinson’s are striatum and substantia nigra. The latter has axonal connections to striatum with its dopaminergic neurons. Lewy bodies (LBs) are thought as a hallmark in Parkinson’s disease. They are aggrega-tions from proteins.
