The growing concern regarding the population ageing has set many to look in to various options that could bring possible relief to some of the problem issues arising. Alongside with the rapid development of assistive robots that has brought promising results to the field, the deployment of these technologies into the daily lives of the elderly has been seen as a possibility to help us in the near future. This research examines what are the different assistive robots that have been developed for the elderly, and how research institutions collaborate for improving these devices to bring them closer to the market. It also looks into what are the current main challenges, especially regarding the ethical issues
