Very limited literature exists exploring the experiences of fathers who have children with a disability. This session exposes potentially faulty and damaging clinical assumptions and provides a comprehensive review of evidence- based practices in the disability field, exploring differences in attachment styles, and variation of roles and expectations between mothers and fathers when having a child with disability. It also reinvestigates critical socio-cultural and psychological variables that may explain variation in parenting by fathers of children with disabilities. Clinical practice research supporting mindfulness and acceptance-based interventions to be beneficial for parents of children with disabilities will be provided
