Measuring Performance in Supply Chain Management

Logistics is the movement of raw materials, in-process inventory finished goods and supplies from their origin to the point of final consumption. Supply-chain management is the design and management of seamless, value added processes across organizational boundaries to meet the real needs of the end customer. A challenging task for an organization is determining what to measure. When an organization focuses on a particular issue or process it can better identify what needs to be done and then can better do it. Supply management addresses the issue of figuring out which performance measurements to employ and how to create them. This research makes an attempt to review extant literature, relevant models and theories of supply chain management and supplier relations with industry customers.
