Proposta de implantação do Jardim Botânico de Rio Claro

The Urban and Industrial growth of the Brazilian cities during the last decades, has drastically reduced the opportunities of interaction between the population and the environment. Our current model of exploitation of natural resources, plants and water resources has allowed all type of environmental damage and is harmful, destroying a large part of our fauna and flora. Gradually these processes trigger the elaboration of measures for the protection of the environment. The municipality of Rio Claro (SP) account with an important Conservation Unit, a logical way to ensure protection of the natural environment, the historical-cultural and architectural, the Floresta Estadual Edmundo Navarro de Andrade (FEENA). There is a proposal in development in the Department of Forest Management (SEPLADEMA) which consists of creating a botanical garden, which is in agreement with the guidelines of the Brazilian Network of Botanical Gardens (RBJB), covering the area of the Public Use of FEENA. This work aims to present a proposal for the Botanical Garden of Rio Claro, without changing the physical and natural features existing in FEENA, will allow the integrated conservation both of native flora and regional ecosystems as of alien species and rare, mainly from Eucalyptus, in addition to developing environmental education activities, research, culture and leisure activities. Gradativamente esses processos desencadeiam a elaboração de medidas para a proteção do meio ambiente. O município de Rio Claro (SP) conta com uma importante Unidade de Conservação, uma forma lógica para garantir a proteção do ambiente natural, histórico-cultural e arquitetônico, a Floresta Estadual Edmundo Navarro de Andrade (FEENA). Há uma proposta em desenvolvimento no Departamento de Manejo Florestal (SEPLADEMA) que consiste em criar um Jardim Botânico, que esteja de acordo com as diretrizes da Rede Brasileira de Jardins Botânicos (RBJB), abrangendo a área de Uso Público da FEENA. Este trabalho tem como finalidade apresentar uma proposta de criação do Jardim Botânico de Rio Claro, sem alterar os aspectos físicos e naturais já existentes na FEENA, permitindo assim a conservação integrada tanto da flora nativa e dos ecossistemas regionais quanto das espécies exóticas e raras, principalmente do eucalipto, além de desenvolver atividades de educação ambiental, pesquisa, cultura e lazer.
