The crop of Eucalyptus species in Brazil makes up an important sector of the Brazilian economy and covers wide variety of environments with different production potential. In these environments, forest productivity is governed mostly by the flow of water and nutrients in the ecosystem, and phosphorus (P) is the mineral element more that more limited forest productivity. The selection of genetic materials with greater efficiency in the uptake, translocation and use of the element can contribute to increased crop yields and contribute positively to the sustainability of agricultural production in these environments.
