In this work, the structure of sodium bentonite clay was modified using TiO2 and TiO2-oxides, doped with ZnO, and also by pillaring with mixed oxide Al/Fe and Al/Fe-doped Cu. The aim of this, is the application of these materials as adsorbents and photocatalyst of the paraquat herbicide. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform mid-infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflection (FT-IR/ATR), thermal analysis (TG/DTG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), determination of specific surface area by the BET method, determination of particle average size and Zeta potential.
