The main part of this work, deals with the reactivity of a sterically challenging nickel(II) azamacrocycle-model systems towards carbon dioxide, using methods for thermodynamic and kinetic investigations such as spectrophotometric titration, pressure-, temperature- and concentration- dependent stopped-flow experiments as well as 3D 1H NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the coordination of a different metal center in the same ligand system was investigated. Therefore, the nickel was replaced by a cobalt center and again structural and spectroscopic measurements, as well as (Cryo-)UHR ESI-ToF mass spectrometric investigations were performed.
