The anthropogenic impact on global climatic and environmental changes appears obvious. In addition to increasing emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere (global warming), steadily increasing nutrient depositions (N and P) are evident factors causing changes in ecosystems. In particular, the tropical humid and dry forests of South Ecuador are extremely vulnerable to these influences as their unique bio- and structural-diversity with high nutrient limitation are characteristics.
