This thesis proposes a new inverted hysteresis model for including the ferromagnetic hysteresis in electromagnetic field calculations. Numerical techniques have been commonly utilized to solve electromagnetic field problems. In finite element (FE) formulations, the magnetic vector potential is introduced as unknown, by which the magnetic flux can be directly obtained. The nonlinear hysteretic relation is usually approximated by a single-valued magnetization curve. This neglect of the hysteresis effect may lead to serious inaccuracies in calculation.
