Dendritic cells (DC) are known to be important orchestrators of the immune response, resulting in an effective adaptive immunity against pathogens. In therapeutic cancer vaccination, antigen (Ag)-loaded DC are used to initiate T-cell responses against tumors. An optimal cancer vaccine should induce a strong CD8+ CTL response and also promote T-cell help to support an effective CD8+ T-cell memory formation.
