1 Hintergrund und Ziele In bereits veröffentlichten Studien konnte ein Zusammenhang zwischen Alkoholabhängigkeit und der Aminosäure Homocystein gefunden werden. Dabei konnte gezeigt werden, dass die Homocysteinkonzentrationen alkoholabhängiger Patienten zu Beginn einer Entzugstherapie signifikant erhöht sind und im Laufe der Entgiftung relativ schnell wieder auf Normwerte sanken. Asymmetrisches Dimethylarginin (ADMA), ein endogener Hemmer der NO-Synthase, entsteht nach Proteolyse von Proteinen, die methyliertes L-Arginin in ihrer Kette enthalten.
