Spinal pain caused by the bad sitting posture can affect adults and young people. The slouching and leaning for long hours using computers and portable electronic devices is the main cause of the back problems. Recently, in order to prevent the spinal pain, sitting posture monitoring systems have been developed in the literature to assess the posture of a seated person in real-time and improve sitting posture. The purpose of this study is to review the recent posture monitoring systems. The review is based on a literature search in PubMed, IEEE Xplore and Science Direct.
