Thema der Studie sind Orientierungsselektivität/präferenz und Orientierungskarten im primären visuellen Kortex (V1) höherer Säugetiere. Ein theoretisches Modell zur Entwicklung von V1 wird \(\textit {in silico}\) erarbeitet, und mittels intrinsischem Optical Imaging (IOI) \(\textit {in vivo}\) gewonnene Daten werden hinsichtlich der Orientierungsselektivität neuronaler Populationen analysiert. Es wird eine Übersicht über experimentelle Methoden und den Stand der Entwicklungsneurowissenschaft gegeben (Teil 1).
