Ziel der Arbeit war die Synthese und Charakterisierung von MOF Materialien für biologische Anwendungen. Es wurden zwei Synthesestrategien zur Herstellung nano-skaliger MOFs entwickelt: eine optimierte solvothermale und eine mikrowellenunterstützte Methode. Sowohl auf Zinkterephthalat basierende IRMOF-1 bzw. -3, als auch auf Eisenterephthalat basierende MIL-88B bzw. \(NH_{2}-MIL-88B\) Gerüststrukturen konnten im Nanometer- bis Mikrometerbereich hergestellt werden. Potentielle biologische Anwendungen dieser Materialien wie z.B. Einschluss von Gastmolekülen, Möglichkeit zur Funktionalisierung mit Fluoreszenzmarkern sowie lösungsmittelinduzierte gate-opening/closing Eigenschaften wurden untersucht.
