A new species and new records of harpacticoids (Crustacea: Copepoda: Harpacticoida) from North-Eastern Borneo

Zooplankton samples from inland water bodies in the north-eastern part of Borneo were collected in rivers, ponds, roadside ditches, irrigation canals, rice fields, and temporary water bodies. The harpacticoid copepods (Harpacticoida) were found only in three surveyed locations. Seven species of four genera from the families Canthocamptidae and Phyllognathopodidae were identified. Four of harpacticoid species found belong to the genus Elaphoidella. A new species, Elaphoidella fatimae sp. nov., is described. It differs from all known species of the genus by combination of the following characters: posterior margins of body somites serrate at dorsal side; anal operculum rounded, with spinules; caudal rami conical; exopod of leg 5 about three times as long as wide.
