This research aims to find out: (1) Archival Management in State Attorney of Surakarta (2) The obstacles and the causes emerged in the archival management in State Attorney of Surakarta. (3) The efforts made to overcome the obstacles emerged in archival management in the State Attorney of Surakarta. This research was the descriptive qualitative study. The subject of the research was collected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling technique. The sources of data used were informant, place and event, archive, and document. The data collection techniques used were interview, observation, and documentation. The data trustworthiness was done using data triangulation and method triangulation. The data analysis technique was interactive model technique consisting of several stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Research findings show that the archival management activities in the State Attorney of Surakarta cover: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. These implementations are scrutinized based on 5 elements namely archive officer (man), the archives (material), archiving facilities (machines), archiving methods, and archiving fund. Obstacles found in archival management are such as the lack of human resources, inadequate facilities, and unclear archiving procedures. To deal with the difficulties, the following steps are done: recruiting officers, providing archiving facilities, and constructing clear procedures of archiving system in the State Attorney of Surakarta Keyword: archival management, archive, archival attorne
