The purpose of English teaching-learning activity is preparing the students to become part of the globalized world. Therefore students need to acquire intercultural competence in order to deal effectively and appropriately with cultural diversity, and ELT textbook is the main medium providing cultural information in form of text, pictures, and task. The aim of this study is to investigate whether ELT textbook provided by The Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia entitled Bahasa Inggris contains intercultural competence. Content analysis method and Byram’s theory of intercultural competence are employed to explore this ELT textbook. The finding shows that the ELT textbook accommodates the five dimensions of Intercultural competence although the distribution is not evenly presented. Moreover, teachers can still use this book in developing intercultural competence although they may supplement this book by using other materials.
