KONSTRUKSI MEDIA DALAM PEMBERITAAN PABRIK SEMEN DI PEGUNUNGAN KENDENG (Analisis Framing Tentang Pemberitaan Pabrik Semen di Pegunungan Kendeng, Kabupaten Rembang dalam Harian Umum KOMPAS Periode Desember 2016 - April 2017

The news about conflict of Kendeng cement factory colors the news coverage in mass media since the conflict began. Mass media constructs the conflict of cement factory in Kendeng Mountains with various perspectives frequently showing their partiality to one party. The society’s pros and cons in treating the conflict are inseparable from the role of mass media in constructing it. Government serves as a mediator and decision maker over the conflict occurring. Kompas as one of national printed media also covers the polemic of cement factory in Kendeng Mountains. This research was conducted to find out how Kompas Daily framed the news coverage of cement factory in Kendeng Mountains in the period of December 2016 – April 2017. The method employed was Robert N. Entmant’s framing analysis model with the elements owned including define problem, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation to see how the cement factory conflict incidence in Kendeng Mountain is interpreted by journalist and to show impartiality and ideology used. There were three categories used to see media construction by Kompas: Kendeng people’s struggling action, living environment study, and governments’ role. From those three categories, it could be found that Kompas national printed media shows its partiality to the issue of environmental sustainability and one of parties in the conflict, the people declining the construction of cement factory in Kendeng Mountains, Rembang Regency, Central Java.
