Eikosanoidy hrají důležitou roli při probíhajícím zánětu v lidském těle. Vznikají enzymatickou i neenzymatickou oxidací arachidonové kyseliny a jiných polynenasycených mastných kyselin. Pro analýzu eikosanoidů byla použita ultravysokoúčinná kapalinová chromatografie ve spojení s hmotnostní spektrometrií (UHPLC/MS) pracující v negativním módu elektrosprejové ionizace a s použitím trojitého kvadrupólového analyzátoru. Analyty byly separovány na koloně Acquity UPLC BEH C18 (2.1x150 mm, 1.7 μm). Všechny důležité parametry iontového zdroje, jako teplota iontového zdroje a průtoky plynů, byly optimalizovány tak, aby byla získána největší citlivost pro následnou SRM (Selected reaction monitoring) metodu.
