Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Puisi melalui Penerapan Metode Saintifik Discovery Based Learning dengan Media Gambar Seri Peristiwa Alam pada Siswa Kelas VIII-A SMP Negeri 3 Sukoharjo

IMPROVEMENT OF INTEREST AND CAPABILITY TO WRITE POETRY WITH LEARNING THROUGH DISCOVERY BASED MEDIA NATURE IMAGES GLOW Erni Rahayu Muhammad Rohmadi Andayani Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta ABSTRACT This study aimed to increase: 1) the interest in writing poems in class VIII SMP Negeri Sukoharjo; and 2) improve the ability to write poetry in grade VIII SMP Negeri Sukoharjo. This research was a classroom action research. This research was done around August until November 2016 at class VIII SMP Negeri Sukoharjo. The resources of this research were documents and field notes of the observation. The techniques of data analysis were observation, deep interview, tests or assignments, and documents analysis. The validities of the data in this research were triangulation of the resources and the methods and review of the informants. The results can be concluded that: 1) there was an improvement of the students’ interest in writing poetries. The improvement can be explained in cycle 1 that 24 students or 47% of the students who joined the teaching and learning process increased becoming 75% of the students in cycle 2. There are four aspects of the students’ activeness: the students’ apperception, attention and activeness during the teaching and learning process, the students’ activeness in observing nature pictures series and discussing them with friends, and the students’ interest and motivation. 2) there was an improvement of the students’ capabilities in writing poetries in the teaching and learning process. The improvement can be explained in the beginning survey that the percentage of the passed students was only 34% (11 students). In cycle 1, it increased becoming 81% (26 students). In cycle 2, it increased becoming 96% (31 students). In the last cycle, there was only one student of 32 students who did not reach the maximum score. It was normal because someone’s intellectuality cannot be improved quickly, but it needs a long process.
