Candra Nugraheni. R1116014.2017. The Correlation between Initiation of Early Breastfeeding (IMD) and Prelacteal Feeding in Kalijambe Community Health Clinic of Sragen Regency. Background: Exclusive breastfeeding for neonates (six months infant after birth) is the best and the sole food. The prelacteal food, on the first three days after birth, is one of the exclusive breastfeeding failure causes. No early initiation of breastfeeding (IMD) is possible cause of prelacteal feeding. This study aims at determining the correlation between Initiation of Early Breastfeeding and prelacteal feeding. Methods: It was an observational study within the case-control design. The data collection was carried out from March to April 2017 in five villages in the area of Kalijambe Community Health Clinic. Further, the sampling technique used was two-stage cluster sampling. The total sample was 60 infants who met the criteria for restriction and matching; consisting of 30 prelacteal fed infants as the case and not prelacteal fed infants as the control. The data of early initiation of breastfeeding and prelacteal feeding were measured by interviews within the question lists and the data were then analyzed with the Chi Square. Research findings: the implementation of IMD was obtained on 6 respondents (26,1%) who gave prelacteal and 17 respondents (73,9%) to the non prelacteal group. The result was p = 0.003 (OR = 0.19; 95% CI 0.061-0.604). Conclusion: There was the significant correlation between IMD and prelacteal feeding. The implementation of IMD caused the invaluable reduction in prelacteal feeding (81%) compared with non-IMD mothers. Keywords: Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD), Prelacteal Food, Mothe
