The efforts of Sinergi Event in promoting Solo as Tourism City

ABSTRACT Asnef, 2016. The Efforts of Sinergi Event Surakarta in Promoting Solo as Tourism City. English Diploma Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UNS. This final project report is written based on the job training which was done by the writer in Sinergi Event Surakarta from 28 March 2015 and ended on 17 May 2015. The objectives of this final project report are to explain the efforts of Sinergi Event in promoting Solo and to describe the obstacle faced by Sinergi Event in promoting Solo as tourism city. The result of this final project report shows that the efforts of Sinergi Event in promoting Solo as tourism city are by creating events, using social media, TIC (Tourism Information Center), newspaper, TV station, creating realtion with Solo government and using website to support the activities of Sinergi Event. The obstacles faced by Sinergi Events are about the website, the access of the internet, location of TIC (Tourism Information Center, fund, and the employees. The solution based on the writer’s observation during job training as follows: First, the software of the website needs to be upgraded every 3 months, beside the Sinergi Event Surakarta should coordinate with the provider to increase the speed of the internet access. Second, Sinergi Event Surakarta can create a direction plank in the front of the office, the purpose is to give a clear sign for the tourist, so they will not confused to look for Sinergi Event Office. Third, The way of Sinergi Event Surakarta can get more fund is by creating relationship with big company such as Walls, Novotel, Batik Danar Hadi and etc. Lastly, the solution related to the employees is the Sinergi Event Surakarta can be more selective in order to find employees with a good English language skills. I hope this final project report can be beneficial to the International Office and the readers, especially those who are interested in public relation
