Pattern recognition receptors such as nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain(NOD)-containing protein receptors (NLRs) and the pyrin and hematopoitic interferon-induciblenuclear protein (HIN) domain (PYHIN) receptors initiate the inflammatory response followingcell stress or pathogenic challenge.
