Since the late Twentieth Century, there has been a global proliferation of not-for-profit organisations and an increased interest in how they collaborate with for-profit organisations in the delivery of social products and services. While in the ‘business and society’ literature such social value creating arrangements have been referred to and popularised as ‘Creating Shared Value’ (CSV), there remains a lack (especially with regard to some of CSV’s larger claims) of a finer-grained understanding of the processes involved in a given set of for-profit and not-for-profit arrangements that operate under apparent CSV-like conditions in a Supply Chain Management (SCM) context.
