In der vorliegenden Studie habe ich nicht-invasiv gesammelte Proben mit molekular- genetischen Methoden analysiert, um die Populationsstruktur und die Dynamik des Auerhuhns (Tetrao urogallus L.) in den Schweizer Alpen zu untersuchen. Ich zeigte dass Fang?Wiederfang Analysen von genotypischen Daten weniger durch Vorkenntnisse beeinflusst werden, als die auf Spurentaxationen basierenden Bestandschätzung. Genetische Methoden können deshalb für Bestandschätzung und Erfolgskontrollen von Fördermassnahmen verwendet werden.
