Políticas públicas para abordar las desigualdades regionales en Quintana Roo. Una propuesta a partir del desarrollo regional de Othón P. Blanco

Marginalization is the result of the inefficient application and the poor design of public policies. Frequently, development is planned without a specific study of economic, social, political and environmental problems in the regions and without citizen’s participation. Regional inequality is therefore a result of disarticulation of economic activities and the lack of relevant regional development policies. The failure of policies to activate development has prompted a broader role of the State in what is known as the New Public Management (NGP), which coincides with the objectives of regional development. For the success of the NGP, the public, private and social sectors must be prepared to take on the challenge of designing their own development. What are the problems that hamper balanced regional development in Quintana Roo and what to do to overcome it? This question refers to this study, the product of a research on regional development and public management in Quintana Roo, where the case study focuses on the municipality of Othón P. Blanco
