This study examined the preference for and consumption pattern of meat types by individual households - Specifically, the study investigated the extent to which household income, household size and other socio-economic factors predicted monthly expenditure on meat. Three Hundred household heads were selected from the area using the simple random sampling technique. Results indicated that beef was the most preferred meat (60.14%), followed by chicken (29.72%) and turkey (26.92%). The proportion of household’s total expenditure on meat was high for low income households (on average 18%) while on average of 9% for middle/high income households.
