In an attempt to investigate Muslim economic thinking in the 12th century Hijrah, corresponding 18th century C E, the present paper explores economic ideas of one of the greatest Muslim personalities of the period, Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio (1167-1233/1754-1817), who is commonly known as revivalist and renovator of religious beliefs and practices and founder of the Sokoto Khilafat.
