The purpose of this book is to provide such a platform or framework that will describe the Cyprus problem as a major issue affecting the relations between Greece and Turkey and the arms race between the two countries. It is very important to point out, however, that solving the Cyprus issue is not exactly a prerequisite for settling all disputes between Greece and Turkey. The Greek-Turkish relations and the Cyprus problem must be regarded as being two very important, however entirely distinct issues.
