This paper describes the joint research activities of NASA, ONERA, and DLR in the field of aircraft noise simulation. The Aircraft Noise Working Group (ANSWr) has been established to compare simulation tools, establish guidelines for noise prediction, assess uncertainties associated with the simulation, and establish a common knowledge in the field. A benchmark has been initiated for this purpose. The setup of the benchmark is documented and initial results are discussed
