Introduction: Lung cancer (LC) is among the most frequent type of malignancies, accounting for 13% of the newly diagnosed cases worldwide in 2012. Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) represents almost 85% of the total number of LC diagnoses and can be further classified into different subtypes based on the expression of certain molecular and histological features.
