The objective of the PhD thesis was to contribute to the investigation of the possibility of using the bioenergy plants maize (Zea mays), sunflower (Helianthus annuus), sweet sorghum (Shorgum bicolor) and soybean (Glycine max), for the extraction of Pb and Cd pollutants from polluted soils in the region of Lavrio. For this purpose a sample of a topsoil, approximately 1 m3, was taken from the area Neraki of Lavrio and after its homogenization, the concentrations were determined for Pb and Cd, 6990 mg/kg soil and 24 mg/kg soil respectively.
