Spontaneously broken gauge field theories and study of non linearity by the use of multiple scales pertubation theory

The present thesis studies the classical nonlinear dynamics of spontaneously broken abelian and non abelian gauge theories. Approximate analytical solutions of the equations of motion of the above models are found as a result of the use of multiple scales perturbation theory. By applying the aforementioned method to the initial system of equations of motion, the non linear Schrödinger equation is designated as the master equation that governs the nonlinearity of the models. The solutions that will be presented and studied are four dimentional nonlinear plane waves and (1+1) dimentional oscillating soliton type solutions. The stability and the longevity of the above solutions are investigated analytically and numerically. This analysis defines regions for the masses of the fields where the corresponding solutions are stable. Finally, the sollutions are connected with the phenomenology of elementary particles and superconductivity.Στην παρούσα διατριβή μελετάται η κλασική μη γραμμική δυναμική αβελιανών και μη αβελιανών θεωριών βαθμίδας με παραβιασμένη συμμετρία και παρουσιάζονται αναλυτικές προσεγγιστικές λύσεις για τα αντίστοιχα πρότυπα. Οι λύσεις αυτές προκύπτουν μέσω της εφαρμογής της θεωρίας διαταραχών πολλαπλών κλιμάκων στις εξισώσεις κίνησεις των προτύπων, η οποία αναδεικνύει την μη γραμμική εξίσωση Schrödinger ως κυρίαρχη εξίσωση. Οι λύσεις που μελετώνται είναι μη γραμμικά επίπεδα κύματα με τετραδιάστατη εξάρτηση ή ταλαντούμενες σολιτονικές λύσεις με εξάρτηση από τις (1+1) διαστάσεις. Γίνεται η μελέτη και διερεύνηση της ευστάθειας των λύσεων αυτών, η οποία συνδέεται με τον προσδιορισμό περιοχών των μαζών των πεδίων των προτύπων. Η μελέτη της ευστάθειας γίνεται με αναλυτικά κριτήρια και επιβεβαιώνεται αριθμητικά. Οι ανωτέρω λύσεις ελέγχονται ως προς την φαινομενολογία των στοιχειωδών σωματιδίων αλλά και της υπεραγωγιμότητα
