Drug development for the Central Nervous System is seriously hampered by the lack of effective methods for permeation of drugs through the BBB and into the brain. For this reason, research is directed to the use of nanoparticles for the penetration of BBB. The use of targeted nanoparticles is recently upgraded and researchers attempt to resolve the configuration issues and transport across the BBB to develop commercially available products.
