Development of new nanocomposite materials of epoxy resins with advanced silica nanostructures

The aim of the present thesis is the production of rubbery and glassy nanocomposite epoxy polymers using nanostructured mesoporous silica of SBA-15 and MCF type, as well as micro/nanoparticle silica of PEI-SiO2 type and the study of the mechanical, thermomechanical and thermal properties. More specifically, the effect of concentration, porosity, morphology and organic functionalization of nanostructured silica will be examined. Additionally, the properties of the novel nanocomposite materials will be compared with those of nanocomposite materials with classic nanoadditives, such as layered silicates, carbon nanotubes and fumed nanosilica.Σκοπός της παρούσας διατριβής είναι η παρασκευή νανοσύνθετων ελαστομερών και υαλωδών εποξειδικών πολυμερών χρησιμοποιώντας νανοδομημένες μεσοπορώδεις πυριτίες τύπου SBA-15 και MCF, καθώς και μικρο/νανοσωματίδια πυριτίας τύπου PEI-SiO2 και η μελέτη των μηχανικών, θερμομηχανικών και θερμικών ιδιοτήτων τους. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, θα εξεταστούν η επίδραση της συγκέντρωσης, του πορώδους, της μορφολογίας και της οργανικής τροποποίησης των νανοδομημένων πυριτίων. Επίσης, οι ιδιότητες των νέων νανοσύνθετων υλικών θα συγκριθούν με αυτές νανοσύνθετων υλικών με περισσότερο κλασσικά νανοπρόσθετα, όπως φυλλόμορφες αργίλους, νανοσωλήνες άνθρακα και πυρογενής νανο-πυριτία
