Phytosociological Research of the National Forest Park of mountain Troodos of Cyprus

A phytosociological research of the vegetation of National Forest Park of Troodos at Cyprus was conducted, applying the Braun-Blanquet method by 362 relevés. The method was applied in pure and mixed forests of Pinus brutia and Pinus nigra, Quercus alnifolia shrublands, phrygana, riparian vegetation, Juniperus foetidissima stands, orophilous dwarf vegetation and peatlands. As a result, 9 phytosociological associations, 3 communities, 5 subassociations, 24 variances and 4 subvariants were distinguished that were assigned in the classes Quercetea ilicis, Cisto - Micromerietea julianae, Populetea albae, Pino - Juniperetea and Dianto troodi - Teucrietea cyprii. Moreover, syndynamics among the units were investigated and their ecological interpretation was supported by 32 soil profiles, meteorological data from five stations and by recording the physiography of each plot.Στα πλαίσια της παρούσας διατριβής διενεργήθηκε φυτοκοινωνιολογική έρευνα στη βλάστηση του Εθνικού Δασικού Πάρκου Τροόδους, σύμφωνα με τη μέθοδο του Braun-Blanquet. Συνολικά χρησιμοποιήθηκαν 362 δειγματοληπτικές επιφάνειες σε αμιγή και μικτά δάση τραχείας (Pinus brutia) και μαύρης πεύκης (Pinus nigra subsp. pallasiana), θαμνώδεις / δενδρώδεις σχηματισμούς δρυός (Quercus alnifolia), φρύγανα, παραποτάμιους δασικούς σχηματισμούς, δενδρώδεις σχηματισμούς αρκεύθου (Juniperus foetidissima), χαμηλή ορόφιλη βλάστηση (σερπεντινόφιλα λιβάδια) και τυρφώνες. Από τη φυτοκοινωνιολογική έρευνα διακρίθηκαν 9 ενώσεις, 3 κοινότητες, 5 υποενώσεις, 24 παραλλαγές και 4 υποπαραλλαγές, που εντάχθηκαν στις κλάσεις Quercetea ilicis, Cisto -Micromerietea julianae, Populetea albae, Pino - Juniperetea και Dianto troodi - Teucrietea cyprii. Επιπλέον, διερευνήθηκαν οι συνδυναμικές σχέσεις μεταξύ των μονάδων βλάστησης, ενώ η οικολογική ερμηνεία τους βασίστηκε σε 32 εδαφοτομές, στα μετεωρολογικά δεδομένα πέντε σταθμών και στην καταγραφή των φυσιογραφικών χαρακτηριστικών κάθε δειγματοληπτικής επιφάνειας
