Backgroung: Thyroid gland carcinoma constitutes approximately 1% of all human malignancies, while papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) accounts for approximately 70% of all thyroid cancers. Amongst the various mechanisms involved in cancer development the dysfunction of the immune system is increasingly being considered. The immune system seems to play a key role in preventing metastasis and recurrence of thyroid cancer.
