This study focuses on the work of Hippocrates concerning mewbom babies and subsequently compares this work with current data. The information collected has been divided in four sections.The first section comprises the fertilization of the ovule as well as related problems.The second section deals with intrauterine life , labor , delivery and the causes of prematurity.The third section addresses perinatal mortality and pathophysiology of all the systems of the newborn.In the fourth section reference is made to medical equipment and Hippocrates ' medicines for labor and newborns .
