Abstract

After rummage and presentation of the christological teaching of Philoxenus Metropolitan of Mabboug, it is clear that, as a theologian, Philoxenos was very well aware of the patristic theology of the Eastern Fathers that preceded his era, especially that of Great Athanasius and Great Cyril, two of the most theologically influential patriarchs of Alexandria; he faithfully walked on their path using and transferring the distinction «Nature–Will», «Essence–Hypostasis» from Triadology to Christology. Moreover, Philoxenus had a thorough general knowledge of the Antiochian theological terminology, namely that of Theodore of Mopsoestia.
