The aim of the present study is to examine the implication of NO in an experimental model of prolonged seizures in young rats, at the substrate of perinatal hypoxia-included seizures. The implication of NO is evaluated indirectly, by examining the effect of inhibition of seizures-mediated NO production. For this study, 7-Nitroindazole, a selective inhibitor of neuronal synthase of NO was used. According to the experimental protocol, rat pups on postnatal day 10-11 were exposed to conditions of hypoxia by decreasing O2 concentration, from 7% to 4% within 15 minutes.
