After decades of confusion, pathogenicity of the genus Corynebacterium, is well documented in recent years. The main interest of this study was to determine the frequency of different species of the genus from clinical sources, the clinical relevance and the antibiotic susceptibility patterns of these species. Over a 3-years period, 94 clinical isolates of corynebacteria were recovered from various clinical sources and identified by conventional methods and the Api Coryne system. The most common species were C.pseudodiphtheriticum (27%), C.amycolatum (14%), C.afermentans (12%), C.propinquum (11%), C.jeikeium (9%), C. urealyticum (9%) and C. group G(9%).
