In this study, was investigated the elemental and chemical wood ash compositions of six dominant Greek fuels, before and after treatment with chemical retardants. A variety of techniques were used, including thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), Inductive coupled plasma emission spectroscopy, (ICP-AES), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDAX). In addition, the alkalinity of wood ash was determined by titration.
