Spectrum requirements on radar systems are becoming stricter due to the increasing number of wireless devices inhabiting the frequency spectrum. Future radar systems that are cognitive and flexible will be able to operate more effectively in the next-generation spectral environment. Cognitive Radar is a radar that can adapt to changing requirements placed upon it. The goal of the research presented in this thesis is to empower cognitive radar systems to adapt to changing requirements while maintaining the best level of performance possible.
