The purpose of this investigation was to understand the impact of weaving educator Anna Ernberg during her career at Berea College, located in Berea, Kentucky. Ernberg, a native of Sweden, emigrated to the United States at the turn of the 20th century and worked as the head of the Fireside Industries weaving program at Berea College. Through the use of photographic analysis and textile object examination, this historical research study is situated within the framework of material culture and makes use of impressionistic findings to establish a rich understanding of Ernberg as both an artist and educator.
