West African Triaenodes McLachlan (Trichoptera: Leptoceridae). 1. Introduction and subgenus Triaenodella Mosely

Two new Triaenodes McLachlan species belonging to subgenus Triaenodella Mosely, T. akosua sp. n. and T. amma sp. n., are described and figured, and four previously described species, T. dolobratus Gibbs, T. ghana Kimmins, T. proszynskii (Marlier & Botosaneanu), and T. serratus Ulmer are redescribed and figured based on males collected in Ghana. The female of T. proszynskii as well as the female holotype of T. palpalis Banks from Cameroon are also redescribed and figured. Further, an additional new species, T. kwadwo sp. n., from Ghana is described and figured; this species does not readily fit into any subgenus. A key to the subgenera of West African Triaenodes males and a key to the males of subgenus Triaenodella are provided
