This thesis presents a software implementation of block turbo codes designed to operate at high speed on any platform. In order to achieve this, a new stopping criterion is proposed that has increased throughput by over 70% at high SNR while decreasing BER for some codes. The performance of the implementation is simulated on an AWGN channel using BPSK modulation, and speed and BER results are given that prove its correctness.Electrical and Computer Engineerin
