To better understand how positive and negative emotion influences the intention to use software applications, two affective constructs namely core affective experience and negative affectivity were introduced to the UTAUT (unified theory of adoption and use of technology). A pilot study was conducted in a lab setting to replicate the UTAUT and the results are encouraging. Then two more lab studies were conducted with inexperience and experience users, respectively. The results of the proposed affective augmentation of UTAUT are promising.
