High-speed unsteady spiked body flows were simulated and analysed by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The model geometry was a forward facing cylinder equipped with a protruding spike. Various spike lengths were considered between L/D=1.00 and 2.40 in both flxed spike and moving spike configurations. Axisym- metric, laminar flow conditions were considered at two freestreams of Mach 2.21 and Mach 6.00 and Reynolds' numbers based on the blunt body diameter of 0.12 x 10
