Colorectal cancer is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in the West of Scotland. Socio-economic circumstances are known to be related with variations in health behaviour, risk factor exposure and outcome for a variety of diseases. However, the relationship between socio-economic circumstances and the risk of developing and surviving from colorectal cancer have been inconsistently reported using a variety of methodological approaches over recent decades in this region.
